MedHorizons uses a streamlined, technology-supported publishing workflow designed to deliver fast, fair, and high-quality editorial decisions. Below is a step-by-step overview of our publishing process.

1

Submission

Authors submit manuscripts via our online portal. An initial technical check is completed within 2 business days to confirm formatting, ethics statement, and authorship declarations are in order.

2

Editorial Assessment

The handling editor reviews the manuscript for scope, novelty, and scientific soundness. Manuscripts that do not meet basic criteria are returned within 5 days without full review. We aim for a first editorial decision within 14 days of submission.

3

Peer Review

Accepted manuscripts are assigned to at least two independent expert reviewers. We use single-blind review by default, with double-blind available on request. Reviewers are asked to complete reports within 21 days. All reviewer comments are shared with authors in full.

4

Revision and Decision

Authors receive reviewer comments and have 30 days to submit a revised manuscript with a point-by-point response. The editor makes a final decision — accept, minor revision, major revision, or reject — following the revised submission.

5

Production and Publication

Accepted manuscripts are typeset, proofread, and assigned a DOI. Authors review proofs before final publication. Articles are published online within 7 days of final acceptance, with HTML and PDF versions available immediately.

6

Indexing and Dissemination

Published articles are indexed in PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science, DOAJ, and Google Scholar. Article-level metrics — including views, downloads, and citations — are updated continuously and displayed publicly.
